Heather Reading to her Kids

About Unexpected Magic

Synopsis from back cover:

Five friends stumble upon a deep hole in the woods. It leads to a cave with a magic crystal. A grouchy witch has been guarding the crystal for 50 years. The friends find out that as great as magic seems, it won't give you friendship. Should they run and never look back? Or should they help the lonely witch, even though she is stubborn and difficult?

A Young Readers Chapter Book

It is written at a 3rd-5th grade reading level. Younger children still love it when someone older reads it to them, but it does have some words a 1st grader would have a hard time reading on their own.

Older youth and adults enjoy the story filled with magic, friendship, and an underlying message about self-reliance as well. A good story is a good story no matter what your reading level is, right?

I really enjoyed having Heather visit my classroom. She interacted with the kids wonderfully and had them begging her to 'read one more chapter please.' I would highly recommend having Heather come to your classroom.
