Frequently Asked Questions
Why did you become an author?
I didn't mean to. I wrote Unexpected Magic as a story for my kids for Christmas. They loved it, my extended family loved it, my friends loved it, so I decided to try to get it published. Luckily my publisher liked it too!
When did you start writing?
I wrote silly little stories as a child and teenager for my siblings and cousins, which was my first attempt at writing I suppose. I wrote my first shorter edition of Unexpected Magic throughout 2013. I had it done by Christmas 2013 and used Snapfish to self publish it for my kids. I gave it to Lewis Publishing in May of 2014. I reworked my manuscript for several months and it was published as a chapter book in October 2014.
Will there be a Sequel to Unexpected Magic?
Yes! I am currently writing a sequel/prequel to Unexpected Magic. It is the story of young Griselda and her cousin Walter learning about their magic.
Will you write anything for other ages?
Yes. I have a picture book called The Fantastic Backyard of Imagination. I'd like to write a young adult novel at some point too. I am a full time mom right now, so I only write when I have time and my creative juices are flowing!
What are you working on next?
I am working on the sequel to Unexpected Magic off and on when an idea comes to me. Mostly I'm working on another picture book about real food. It is both humorous and educational.

“The students were really engaged when she came to share her book and her own story. It was good for them to see that you can do something you love and be successful, even when you face some challenges.”
